Like many others in NYC and around the world, my life was forever changed on 9/11/01. I lost my first husband, Peter Mardikian on that day. For me these days surrounding that anniversary is like the anticipation of a new year, causing me to stop and reflect upon my life.
This year with the opening of the memorial happening in just a few short days, my focus has been on the rebuilding and reshaping of life. I could write a novel about all of the changes that have occurred in my life before 9/11 and after, as I am sure everyone reading this could. Instead, I want to share how thankful I am to have been given love, support, and generosity by so many people.
My friends, family, and many others have helped in the shaping of who I am today. They helped me rebuild my life.
One of my hopes is that I return these gifts, so that I can help people continue to build, and rebuild, their own lives.
