New York Art Therapy Association Juried Art Show
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to participate in the New York Art Therapy Association's Juried Art Show at the Queens Museum of Art.
The theme of the show was Art and Social Practice. How do our soical experiences impact our art & creativity.
When social experiences influence my creative process the resulting artwork usually reflects a response to a day’s events. I begin my process by creating linear work out of soft materials such as thread or yarn, or by drawing repetitive lines to clear my mind.
The repetitive nature of wrapping or drawing of lines leads to creative patterns or a design of individual, overlapping elements. This final artwork represents the threaded connections that exist among social experiences.
