Do you love paranormal books and Norse mythology? Ever read a book where the characters were elves? Do you love novels with a whole lot of spice? If you answered yes, then you need to check out Night Aberrations by JD Nelson.
Night Aberrations was my first experience reading about elves and reading erotica. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, especially the love triangle between Emelie (the main character), Soren (Emelie’s fated), and Kristian (Emelie’s intended). Let’s just say that the romantic tension between the three really heats up! But the book isn’t just about the love triangle; it’s about Emelie having to make a decision between her personal happiness and doing what’s right to end a decades-long war.

About the Author
JD Nelson is a scenic artist for the entertainment industry, the author of the Night Aberrations Series, the Wicked Ways Series, and the owner of Chaste Moon Publishing.
When she's not spending time with her husband, you can find her writing, reading, or on her commute to work.
What inspired you to become a writer?
For me, it wasn’t a what, but a who. I owe everything to Author PC Cast. She sparked a flame I didn’t know existed within me. When I began reading her House of Night Series, I loved it so much that I had a fan girl moment and sent her an email praising the series. To my surprise, she wrote me back later that day. In the email, she thanked me and then mentioned that I have an eloquent way of writing. I almost had a heart attack on the spot! After the shock wore off, I started thinking. Was she right? Do I have what it takes to be a writer like her? Needless to say, I went for it. I pulled up a blank word document and started that day.
How did you come up with the premise for Night Aberrations?
Night Aberrations has been through a million changes. It began as a tale of warriors that had eyes the color of the gems in the Hoshen breastplate in the bible. That idea was endlessly complicated for me. Nothing worked out the way I’d planned. Eventually, after weeks of research, I decided that elves better fit the profile I was looking for. It only took a day or so of Norse Mythology research to realize that I could create my own world of characters out of what is already written about the subject.
In addition to writing, you also have a day job; how do you find time to write & what time of day do you get most of your writing done?
I write whenever I can find the time. My commute is almost two hours long each way, so I can usually sneak in a little if I’m not driving, but the majority of my writing takes place between 6-9pm at night.
Do you have a process for your writing? Do you start with an outline or just start writing? Do you have a favorite spot to write? Do you need silence or do you listen to music while you write?
I’m a restless writer that has an extraordinarily hard time with monotony…and outlines. I can’t seem to stay in one place, whether it is where I’m writing or what I’m writing. My need for music is much the same. Sometimes I listen and can’t write without it. Sometimes, it has to be silent. I guess it just depends on my mood.
You write in the paranormal and erotica genres; do you also enjoy reading these genres? Do you have plans to write in other genres?
I’ll admit that those are my favorite genres. However, I do enjoy an occasional YA romance and already have plans to release my own in early 2014 under a different pen name, Adeline Wright.
