Materials: Glue, magazines, any paper material with different colors and patterns
Students will create a mosaic of their famous person they have chosen to learn more about through reading a biography.
Students will need to find a decent sized picture of their chosen person as an outline for the mosaic. Once they have a picture, they will cut out various colors, patterns, and shapes from magazines. The goal is to lay the new material (magazine or patterned paper) on top of the picture they are using as the background. Students can cut out eyes from a magazine or create their own eyes and/or facial features.
Students will then present their artwork as well as give a brief talk about their person.
The student sample is of Andrew Jackson and was created by a former student named Maya.
